Dental Surgery Our experienced dentists carry out a range of dental surgery services

Our Dental Surgery services range from simple tooth extractions to more complex impacted wisdom teeth extractions.

Our implant surgeons can perform bone grafting, sinus lift procedures and implant placements. We can arrange to have these procedures carried out under sedation if required.

Reasons why a tooth might need to be removed

Our dental team are dedicated to saving your teeth – however sometimes after all other options have been assessed, a tooth may need to be removed

  • Severe decay or damage might mean the tooth is too damaged or decayed to be repaired with a filling, crown, or other dental restoration, extraction may be necessary to prevent further infection or pain
  • Impacted wisdom teeth: often wisdom teeth don’t have enough room to come through properly and become ‘impacted’, i.e. stuck beneath the gum line causing pain, swelling, and infection. In such cases, extraction is often recommended
  • Periodontal disease, also known as advanced gum disease can cause teeth to become loose and shift in their sockets, making them unstable and difficult to save. In some cases, extraction may be necessary to prevent further damage to the surrounding teeth and gums
  • Orthodontic treatment – sometimes teeth need to be extracted to make room for braces or aligners, particularly if the mouth is crowded or the teeth are misaligned
  • Trauma – teeth may need to be extracted if they are severely damaged due to trauma, such as a car accident, sports injury, or fall

In-house CBCT Scanner

To aid diagnosis for a range of treatments, and to clarify the position of the roots of wisdom teeth where necessary, we have a 3D CBCT scanner.

This can take detailed OPG and CBCT 3-D scans of your jaw, head and neck for the diagnosis and planning of complex treatment.

What our patients have to say

Well what can I say apart from, absolutely fantastic. Nothing to fault at all. First class care with me who is extremely anxious. Always had to have teeth extractions under iv sedation. For the first time I had a wisdom tooth and molar with just tablet form relaxers. Also done an amazing job so far on restoring me grim teeth when I thought all was lost with them. 👏🏻👏🏻 🦷 😊

Debbie L.

Lovely practice with gentle kind and professional staff. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Tim and his team are excellent. Painless no rush conservative care in the smart new practice.

A. Simpson

Thank you to Dr Tim Doyle for seeing me so quickly for an emergency appointment. The practice provides a relaxed atmosphere and lovely staff. Highly recommend!

H. Deakin

I can’t thank you enough for the first class treatment. I even fell asleep during my extraction!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my tooth be saved?

Our dentists are trained to preserve and restore teeth whenever possible; however sometimes an extraction is the only solution to alleviate pain and remove the cause of infection

Can gum disease lead to tooth loss?

Yes, if left untreated, advanced gum disease can damage the bone and tissues supporting the teeth, potentially leading to tooth loss over time. Early treatment and ongoing maintenance are important for protecting oral health.

I have toothache, do you offer emergency appointments?

Yes, we have daily emergency appointments that we reserve for people in pain

Why do children sometimes need teeth removed before having braces?

Due to overcrowding, an orthodontist may recommend the removal of one or more teeth before the commencement of straightening with braces.

What’s an impacted wisdom tooth?

Often wisdom teeth don’t have enough space to erupt naturally and they can grow sideways impacting and damaging the neighbouring tooth and causing repeated infections. In these instances, it may be recommended to remove the impacted wisdom tooth.

Do you treat Children?

Yes, we treat the children of registered patients of the practice.
