Children We treat children of our registered patients

It is really important for children to visit the dentist regularly to establish a good oral health routine from an early age. Regular dental checkups will ensure proper oral development, detect cavities early, and establish lifelong healthy habits.

We welcome children to Dentistry on the Grove and aim to foster a fear-free, relaxed environment where children view taking care of their teeth as a positive lifelong habit.

At Dentistry on the Grove, we treat children across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and the surrounding areas.

Yes, we treat the children of registered patients of the practice.

When should children start brushing their teeth?

As soon as they first appear using a gentle infant toothbrush and water. It is important to start early to build lifelong oral health habits

Is juice bad for children’s teeth?

Yes, if the children are sipping juice all day, as the acid in the juice erodes the teeth and the sugar in the juice causes plaque to form which can develop into cavities. Fruit juices should be taken at mealtimes only. Water is a better drink throughout the day

When do children start to lose their baby teeth?

Usually around the age of six, but it can be as early as four and as late as seven or eight. Everyone is different. The baby or milk teeth are replaced by the adult teeth coming through.

Do you offer teeth straightening for Children?

While we treat children’s general dental needs at our practice, we do not straighten children’s teeth. We provide Invisalign clear aligner straightening for patients age 18 and above.

Why do children sometimes need teeth removed before having braces?

Due to overcrowding, an orthodontist may recommend the removal of one or more teeth before the commencement of straightening with braces.
