Visiting oral surgeon, Philip graduated from Queen's University in Belfast and has over 25 years experience in oral surgery. He has placed thousands of implants and lectures local dentists on implant placement and restoration
Philip McCauley graduated from Queen’s University Belfast Dental School in 1999. After a year in general practice, Philip then worked as a Senior House Officer in the Oral Surgery department at Poole Hospital, gaining valuable experience in dentoalveolar surgery and passing the MFDS examination in May 2001. Philip completed many post-graduate courses, notably the year restorative course with Michael Wise in 2004.
Going straight into the field of oral implantology, he has been placing and restoring dental implants since 2002, when he was awarded the Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Philip carries out all aspects of implant dentistry, including multiple implant cases, full mouth rehabilitation on implants, bone augmentation and bone grafting. He has a special interest in the field of immediate loading of dental implants for single, multiple, full arch and full mouth implant cases.
In recent years, Philip has been lecturing to local dentists on simple restorative implant cases, mainly using the Dentsply Implants system.
More recently, Philip has been to Bologna, Italy, to learn the application of cutting-edge technology to help in the rehabilitation of immediately placed implants using the Weld-one intra-oral resistance spot welding device. This is a very exciting new field in implant dentistry.
Philip also takes referrals for more complex, surgical wisdom and molar teeth extractions.
